Recreation Programs

Reconnection to Meaningful Interactions

Rediscover the joys of life through ARBI’s recreation programs, thoughtfully designed for brain injury and stroke survivors. Developed in collaboration with experienced recreation therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and physiotherapists, these group programs are facilitated by dedicated community recreation assistants at ARBI and within the broader community. ARBI’s recreation programs operate on a semester basis, providing engaging virtual and face-to-face sessions throughout the year.

These programs offer survivors a unique opportunity to enhance life skills and participate in recreational activities while actively maintaining their skills and abilities. Tailored to diverse interests, they foster social engagement and personal growth in a supportive environment, allowing participants to establish meaningful connections with others who share and understand their journey.

In addition to our recreation programs, ARBI offers the Supports for Community Living (SCL) and Community Access for People in Continuing Care (CAPCC) programs. These programs are designed to further support your journey toward independence and meaningful community engagement. You may be eligible for these free services. “The programs offered through ARBI have significantly contributed to Harvey’s recovery from his stroke. The staff and volunteers have always made him feel as if he was part of a large family. Harvey looks forward to the weekly programs like group walks, golfing, and cooking. These programs enable Harvey to stay positive and provide him the incentive to participate and engage with others like him at ARBI. Thank you ARBI!”
